Rum traditionally has a long history of being the preserve of pirates and sailors, enjoying their ‘Tot of Rum’, and has been around since its discovery in the 17th century. It is now a very popular spirit, mainly produced in the Caribbean and South/Central America, and is available in white, golden and dark varieties. It is made from distilled molasses/sugar by-products and aged in oak barrels, sometime flavoured with spices.

The longer it ages, the more the character develops giving a caramelised flavour and greater depth of colour.
