Not a day goes by that we’re not searching the globe for the finest wines available, so we’ve rounded up some of our favourites especially for you. A few are fresh additions to our website and others have proven so popular over the last few months that we can’t help but shout about them. Read on to discover what’s hot at Wines Online.
Leefield Station Sauvignon Blanc
We’re not kidding when we say that the Leefield Station Sauvignon Blanc has an uber-fresh acid framework that drives a sustained, fruity finish. Hailing from New Zealand, this is very much a wine that boasts a strong family history, as Brent Marris is a farmer whose dad was a pioneer in the Marlborough wine industry. Over the years, Brent has taken the company from strength to strength, with this particular creation awarded the Air New Zealand Elite Gold Medal.
Expect aromas of lime zest, passionfruit, and musky pink grapefruit, followed by a flavour explosion of exotic citrus, woody herbs, and warm river stone.
Joel Gott Zinfandel
Spicy, peppery and warming with a truly stateside character, the Joel Gott Zinfandel is as expressive as an American game show host. The moment you open the bottle, you’re greeted by the scent of roasted plum and blackberry jam with a wonderfully spicy sweetness. Then, as soon as it touches your lips, bright red fruit flavours and acidity are complemented by a soft, round mouthfeel and a long finish.
Perfect for quiet nights in, or a not so quiet gathering of friends and loved ones.
Drappier Carte d’Or Brut
A glorious harmony of Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir grapes, the Drappier Carte d’Or Brut is gold in colour with copper highlights, making it the perfect champagne for a special occasion.
The floral notes of jasmine are truly elegant, with aromas of vine peaches joining in after a few seconds of filling a flute. This delicate start is followed up with a powerful and complex flavour, presenting the finest peach, apricot and red berries that culminate in a long and fresh finish.
Lavender Hill White Zinfandel
Another zinfandel from the USA has made our list, yet the Lavender Hill White is a far cry from the Joel Gott offering. Rich and fruity with plenty of watermelon, strawberry and redcurrant fruit tantalising the taste buds, this medium-sweet beauty has a positive acidity that results in just the right amount of dryness.
If there’s even the slightest bit of sunshine, retire to the conservatory or a sunlit room and start your summer early this year.
Bodego Norton Porteño Malbec
If you haven’t yet tried the Bodego Norton Porteño Malbec, you’ve been missing out on one of life’s true pleasures. Contained within its deep ruby shade with hints of violet are sweet and spicy aromas reminiscent of black pepper. And as you’d expect from a warming red, a choreography of fruit dances across the palate, with long tannins lingering far beyond the supping of the very last drop.
